3) There May Be Hostiles Around That You Don’t Even Realize.

Just like zombies, there’s nothing that says hostiles must make noise. Especially as the apocalypse wears on, they’re even less likely to give themselves away and hide in the shadows and let unsuspecting people walk themselves into a waiting ambush.

Of course, I talked about this last week, so, instead, let me draw your attention to a different way hostiles can be around without you realizing it.

On last week’s episode of Fear The Walking Dead, we were reintroduced to Cole, who explained to Alicia that, after the destruction of The Diamond, he, Doug, Viv, and several other survivors of the Vultures’ attack eventually found themselves at the mercy of a group of bandits. While some didn’t make it, it would appear that Cole, Viv, Doug, and the rest either joined the bandits or got rid of them and replaced them. This is reminiscent of the people of Terminus, who, after being ravaged by The Crazy Guy and his crew, turned around and became cannibals, actively luring unsuspecting survivors to them to eat. Cole and his crew then became the new bandits of that particular Texas region, robbing people before killing them and leaving them to turn.

If Cole’s approach to Alicia, Teddy, and Dakota is any indication, he didn’t even have the decency to just mug people, but instead, act friendly, take them to the repair garage (Probably after blowing their tires, like with Teddy), ambush them, rob them, and then KILL THEM.

This is what you really need to be on the lookout for in the apocalypse: People who pretend to be friendly, only to lure you into a trap and, at best, steal your stuff.

The first thing you need to be wary of is people who are too inviting. Think about it: It’s a zombie apocalypse, with all the open hostiles out there; the last thing you’d want to do is let them know where you are or that you have anything of value, so someone doing that is…suspicious.

The next thing you need to watch out for is randos strolling around like Cole was, offering to take to a place they’re familiar with, but you aren’t (Like the garage Cole took Alicia, Teddy, and Dakota to). That’s an ambush waiting to happen, and you’d be smart not to take that person up on their “generosity.”

There will always be hostiles in a zombie apocalypse, but with so many of them pretending to be friendlies, there may be even more of them around than you might think.
