Where’s Riley And Rollie?

Oh! Yeah…those guys, well, you see…they’re not on this list. The fact is: Neither one of them displayed anything terribly redeemable. Riley was the willing accomplice of Teddy’s grand scheme. Sure, it was Teddy’s idea, but who the hell said that Riley needed to give him the means to do it?! Plus, there’s also the possibility that he murdered his crewmates, so, he’s out. Big time.

And, as for Rollie? His betrayal of Morgan’s group to The Beginners, and his continued loyalty to that cult, is so senseless and so stupid, that, last night, I was almost trying to convince myself to make him the most irredeemable of this season, so, no, he does not get even a consideration on this list. Thank you, and good night.

Who’s The Most Redeemable?

This was, honestly, easier than determining who was the most irredeemable, partially because the person in question wasn’t a wanton killer, unlike everyone else.  After careful consideration, I think Strand has earned the title of “Most Redeemable Villain” of the sixth season of Fear The Walking Dead.

Why? Well, because, at the end of the day, Strand, for all of his faults, wanted to do good. Like I said earlier, he’s inherently selfish, so his efforts to do good will only go so far, but the fact remains, even within his openly selfish nature, and even if it’s very much for selfish reasons, he still wants to do good.

Think about his speech to Howard after revealing that he wasn’t Morgan Jones, despite claiming he was not more than a few moments earlier: “We have a great future behind us [Referring to the historical artifacts Howard collected]. We can take that future and rebuild. With art and books and music and…good bourbon. It feels like the dawning of a new day, to me.”

Strand wants to rebuild society. I don’t doubt he wants the credit and glory that would come with rebuilding society, but the fact is, he still wants to do it.

I’ve often believed that what makes someone a hero is that they’re willing to do what’s necessary when it’s necessary. Strand wants to use the foundation Howard has and rebuild society back to the way it was. If he could rebuild society, even if it’s only for the sake of his own glory, he would be doing what humanity needed, at a time when it was needed. Unconventional though he might be, doing that would make Strand a hero.

But, what do you guys think? Was there another villain who was more redeemable than Strand? Was there someone I didn’t even think of who you thought belonged here? Let me know in the comments!
