World Beyond invades Maymont Park in Richmond, Virginia

The Walking Dead spin-off The Walking Dead: World Beyond is close to wrapping up the second season of the series. Fans are eagerly awaiting news of a release date that is expected before the end of 2021.
World Beyond is a coming-of-age story set in an apocalypse that follows a group of teens who had been sheltered in a community since early in the outbreak. They leave the protection of the walls on a quest to find the father of two sisters in the group. They quickly realize that the world is a much different place than what they are used to.
This series is the second spinoff of the flagship series The Walking Dead. This limited series will consist of two seasons, the second currently being filmed in Virginia.
Where does The Walking Dead: World Beyond film?
6 News Richmond has reported that World Beyond has been filming in Richmond, Virginia the past few weeks. An antique shop posted a photo on its Facebook page showing an abandoned JCPenney at Regency Square that had been transformed into a scene right out of an apocalypse.

It was probably a great source of amusement to the locals to see the transformation and then see walkers shuffling around.
The filming has since been moved to a 110-acre park called Maymont, a Victorian estate that was gifted to the city of Richmond by the Dooley Family. The park boasts beautiful gardens, an arboretum, wildlife habitats, The Robins Nature center, and the gorgeous Dooley mansion.
The Maymont Civic League posted a PSA on their Facebook page, letting people know if they see zombies or hear gunshots that it is just filming for the series.

According to Maymont spokesperson Suzy Rohler, the park remains open to the public during filming, and that was about all she was able to share.
The Walking Dead: World Beyond will return later this year to AMC with the second and final season of the series.
