When a second spin-off of The Walking Dead was announced, many people asked Why? Did the franchise need another series located in a different part of the country? Same story, different location. The Walking Dead: World Beyond ended up bringing a new glimpse into the apocalypse.

World Beyond was created as a limited series that would consist of two seasons. This series was touted as a coming-of-age story set in the apocalypse. The story would follow a group of young people who had spent most of their lives after the outbreak behind secure walls. Their lives were much different than those of the characters in The Walking Dead and Fear TWD. The community they live in,  Campus Colony of Omaha, was a secure location that kept its residents away from life outside its walls.

Sister’s Iris (Aliya Royale) and Hope (Alexa Mansour) receive a disturbing message from their father, who is off with the CRM trying to develop a cure for the virus. His newest message states that things have gone bad, and he will find help. He also tells them to keep the information to themselves. The girls decide they must venture out and search for their father. Their new friends Elton (Nicolas Cantu) and Silas (Hal Cumpston) will come with the sisters to help find their father.

The second and final season of World Beyond is scheduled to release sometime in 2021. The flagship series, The Walking Dead, will premiere its final season on August 22, and Fear TWD will premiere its seventh season this year as well. The two spin-offs could very well air after The Walking Dead airs the first part of its three-part season.

Alexa Mansour and Aliyah Royale have been interviewed several times in the past week. Both of the actresses are excited for their fans to see this second season.

Royale told CBR that season two would focus on the present, where the first season did some looking back to tell the story of how things came to be.

"Okay, what does everyone’s present like? What are the choices that we’re going to make today that are different than the choices we made last season?” Because I think for several characters, there’s a few switches in personality traits and morals and ethics."

In an interview with Comingsoon.net, Mansour said that the second season would see the sisters kind of switch places. She also said that many loose ends would be tied up, and questions will be answered.

"And there’s going to be a lot of questions that a lot of the fans have been asking that are going to be answered in this season. I can’t give away too much, but I can say that it’s going to tie up a bunch of loose ends."

For quite some time, there have been hints and comments regarding the tie-in of World Beyond to The Walking Dead movies that will see Andrew Lincoln reprise his role as Rick Grimes. Fans of the fandom want to see any sort of connection and news on these movies. There have also been comments that World Beyond could see some crossovers from the other series. This second season could prove to be very excited and informative regarding Grimes.

For fans who say this series isn’t good or doesn’t keep their interest, keep in mind this is a very different story from the original series. World Beyond is a look at a community that had been sheltered since the outbreak, and now the teens who lived there have to learn how to survive outside the protection of the walls.
