The Walking Dead’s Laurie Holden cast in The Boys season 3
By Renee Hansen
Congrats to Walking Dead alum Laurie Holden, who Variety is reporting has been cast in a recurring role in Amazon’s popular series The Boys. There was no news about which episode she will make her first appearance in.
Holden has been cast as the Supe named Crimson Countess in the breakout series. The Boys is a series adapted from a comic book of the same name. It has been a successful endeavor for Amazon that is entering into its third season. So much so that the streamer has a spinoff series set in motion that focuses on a college for supes.
Holden will join a list of other new recurring cast members, including Miles Gaston Villanueva as Supersonic, Nick Wechsler as Blue Hawk and Sean Patrick Flannery as Gunpowder. They will join Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara, Erin Moriarty, and Antony Starr, who are series staples.
Laurie Holden will star in The Boys season 3
The Boys will be another great role for Holde, known for her portrayal of Andrea in The Walking Dead series. Interestingly, Crimson Countess and Andrea are both roles of characters from a comic book. It will be interesting to see how closely Crimson Countess is to her comic counterpart as Andrea’s storyline was drastically altered from the comic book to the series.
Fans are extremely excited for the third season of The Boys because it will introduce Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, who has ties to Holden’s character in the series. There have been many photos of Ackles in character generating all sorts of buzz about the series. Crimson Countess is a spoof on Scarlet Witch, but Crimson’s powers are limited to flight and heat generation.
Since she departed from The Walking Dead, Holden has been a busy woman. She has had recurring roles in series like Major Crimes, The Americans and Proven Innocent. She also did voice acting in two animated films, Arctic Dogs and Fireheart.
Once again congrats to Laurie Holden on her role in The Boys. TWD Family will be watching.
