The Walking Dead season 11 teaser reveals the Reapers

The season 11 premiere for The Walking Dead is less than two months away. Fans have been lapping up the reveals released on Thursdays, giving a glimpse of what is to come in the final season. The teaser that was just released was only 15 seconds long, but some interesting key points of interest were featured.

In season 10c, we were introduced to a group that has been terrorizing Maggie and her group, The Wardens. The Reapers are a group who attacked The Warden’s last village and killed many of their group. In “Home Sweet Home,” one of their members was stalking and picking off what remained of The Wardens. This gilly-suited Reaper attacked Maggie, and thanks to Daryl, who shot him with an arrow, Maggie could get free of the attack. When they questioned him in true military style, he refused to give up any information. The only thing he said was “Pope marked you” before he took out his own life with a grenade.

It brought even more questions to everyone’s minds. Who is Pope? Are the Reapers a major threat to Alexandria in its weakened state? There is also the Leah/Reaper theory. She belonged to a squad that she fought with side-by-side and vowed to each other that they would stick together.  She also has a military tattoo on her shoulder that looks to be a special forces badge.

The Walking Dead are the Reapers a threat?

If you look closely at the Reapers in the teaser, they are all wearing masks. This is familiar as newcomer Elijah (Okea Eme-Akwari) also wears a mask. When we are introduced to him in season 10c, he part of The Wardens but continues to wear the mask. When he took off the mask at Kelly’s prompting, we saw a frightened young man.

Are the Reapers hunting for him? Is that why they are following the Wardens?

If you remember, Maggie shared with Kelly that Elijah had lost his sister recently. Did the Reapers kill her because Elijah abandoned their group?

NOTE: if you pause the teaser at the ten-second mark we see that the Reapers mean business and aren’t a group to dismiss lightly.

There are so many questions surrounding this new group. The Reapers seem to be a force to be reckoned with, and if they attack Alexandria in the current condition, it won’t take them long to take control of that community.

The Walking Dead premieres its final season on August 22 on AMC.
