Fort Smith, AR

When looking at factors including alternate power sources, water access, fortification, population density, etc., Realtor.com found that Fort Smith, AR, is in the top ten for best places to be when surviving the apocalyptic conditions that come with an outbreak of undead madness.

Fort Smith has several things going for it when it comes to defense. There is Fort Smith Regional Airport, which happens to be used for military aviation for the folks at Fort Chaffee and the home of the 188th Fighter Wing of the Arkansas Air National Guard. It is also located on the Arkansas River, which is part of the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System which the Army Corp of Engineers operates.

These military professionals would be ideal at aiding in containment because of their background and are also combat trained, meaning they could be very effective at holding back large groups of zombies.

It’s also important to remember that Fort Smith resides in Arkansas, a land considered one of the most favorable states for gun owners. This means there will be plenty of arms available once the chaos begins adding to the many reasons that the state’s second-largest city is an ideal sanctuary for those looking to not only survive but take out their aggression armed to the teeth on some undead scum.
