In a study conducted for figuring out which cities would do well against a nuclear apocalypse and a zombie apocalypse, Manchester, New Hampshire made it into the top ten for the former. But as for the undead latter, it would seem the city is very much so equipped to withstand a World War Z type fiasco.

There are, in fact, several exceptional locations survivors could find very useful to help thwart any efforts from the living corpse threat. And several of them have been proven to work in several movies and TV shows, so it’s probably safe to assume that they would work in reality.

One of which would be The Manchester Cathedral that has been around since the 19th century and has survived bombings and The Blitz, proving its value against an onslaught of the undead. HM Prison Manchester is another exemplary location. As seen in The Walking Dead, it would make for a useful temporary sanctuary and could house more than 1200 survivors.

Thanks to the Edgar Wright-directed zombie comedy masterpiece Shaun of the Dead, everyone is well aware that a pub is an excellent option when the undead are on the loose, so The Peveril of the Peak is the place to make one’s way too before it fills up.

Then there is the Arndale Center which would provide everyone who makes it inside free of zombie bites the same security that survivors in Dawn of the Dead experienced for a while. The Town Hall, Police Museum, and Beetham Tower are some other great locations solidifying Manchester’s status as a top-tier location when dealing with the problems surrounding a devastating zombie apocalypse.
