Season 6 episode 12 of Fear the Walking Dead focused on Grace as she fought for the life of her unborn child as the battle for the key continued around her. Parts of the installment included looking at who the child would grow up to be: a kick-butt fighter named Athena who used a staff much like Morgan.
A wounded Grace needs to make her way to help since she is going into labor. This set up a showdown between representatives of the survivors and the cultists as the situation regarding Grace’s child got even bleaker.
Here are the named characters who died:
Matthew (unknown name) – Even though it was part of a flashback, it was interesting to see what the father of Grace’s baby looked like. Fans already knew he didn’t make it out of the meltdown alive, but see him die to radiation poisoning and then get put down by Grace was hard to watch.
Athena Mukherjee (Sahana Srinivasan) – The heartbreak of this episode continued as the future version of Athena died when birth didn’t go as hoped. Grace and Morgan fought as hard as possible to bring her into the world, but their efforts were met with tears. This was a tough episode to watch emotionally for many fans and one that changed the relationship between Grace and Morgan forever.
Other notable deaths
A trio of cult members died in this episode as they fought beside Riley to control the key. They put up a pretty good fight, but defeating Morgan when he is focused is no easy task. Morgan effectively traded the key for the hope of Grace and Athena both surviving but giving the key to Riley was a dangerous move that could have serious ramifications for the group moving forward.
