Kevin Carroll, who plays the mysterious tea-drinking Virgil on The Walking Dead, has been cast in a pilot for a new series. Variety has reported that Showtime is creating a pilot for a new series, Let the Right One In.
The series will adapt a novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist of the same title that centers around a child and a centuries-old vampire child. The novel has been adapted into two films, one in 2008 and another in 2010. Now, Showtime and Tomorrow Studios are creating a series based on the story.
Mark (Demian Bichir) is the father of Eleanor (Madison Taylor Baez), a child who was bitten by a stranger creature, and afterward, she starts to display some vampire traits. Caroll will play Mark’s friend and restaurant owner, Zeke Dawes, who is aware of Eleanor’s behavior. Peter (Jacob Buster) suffers from the same condition as Eleanor. Also starring Ian Foreman, Larry Pine, Anika Noni Rose and Grae Gummer.
The Walking Dead, Virgil in season 11
In 810 “The World Before,” of The Walking Dead, we met a man named Virgil when he saved Luke from some walkers in a library. Later that day, Virgil is captured by Oceanside residents for tampering with their security system. He tells them he is trying to get home to his family. He makes a deal with Michonne; in exchange for some weapons, she will let him return to his family on a remote island.
Virgil was a suspicious character from the beginning and fed Michonne many lies. When they arrive at the island, she learns of more of his lies. Things go bad for Michonne, but she is able to get control of the situation, and eventually, she finds Rick’s boots in a closet and an old mobile phone with an engraving of her and Judith on it. She then realizes Rick didn’t die in the explosion, which puts her in motion to search for him.
In 1016, “A Certain Doom,” we see Virgil once again show up at Oceanside, which is now abandoned. He finds a horse, and as he is riding along, he discovers Connie, who, despite being exhausted, is alive. Until this point, viewers were unsure whether she survived the cave-in or not.
What will season 11 hold for Virgil? People will be glad to see him, at least for the fact that he will have Connie with him. Now that he has left his island, does this mean he has dealt with his trauma and is ready to belong to a community again? With the threat of the Reapers looming over Alexandria, the extra hands would be welcome.
Carroll is known for his roles in Snowfall, Blindspotting, Being John Malkovich, Velvet Buzzsaw and Lucifer.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC on August 22 for the premiere of the final season.
