It’s not said often enough in Fear The Walking Dead, but a good survivor realizes that the little things can be just as much of a threat as the big things.

After focusing so much of the last week or so championing Victor Strand’s qualities as a survivor (As well as a couple of his missteps), I figured I’d keep the ball rolling.

You see, thinking about what makes a good survivor (Plus a little issue I ran into a couple of weeks ago) made me realize that one thing that makes a good survivor is recognizing that threats don’t always come in the form of massive herds of zombies, armies of bloodthirsty hostiles, or nuclear weapons being deployed in your general vicinity. Sometimes, the biggest threats to your survival in the apocalypse are the things that you don’t even think about, the things you don’t notice, the things you don’t know about, the things you don’t see: The little things.

As I can attest, if those little things go unnoticed for too long, before you know it, they suddenly prove to be not so little anymore and turn into a serious problem.

Because of this realization, I’ve decided that, for this week’s Fear The Walking Dead, Survival Rule Of The Week, I’m going to give some much-needed attention to the little things that, while we don’t think too much about them in a world of zombies and violent people, are just as capable of ruining our chances for survival as either one of them. Sure, these things might be small or innocuous, but that’s the point: Because we’re naturally more focused on the millions of undead and the thousands of living out to harm us, these little things slip right by us, that is until they become a problem.

I intend to make sure they don’t.
