The Walking Dead, Survival Rule Of The Week: The Survivable City Myth

Surviving a Zombie outbreak
1) Things NEVER Go Perfectly When There’s Zombies.
I noticed in the studies and surveys that they didn’t seem to acknowledge just how chaotic the zombie outbreak would be. They seemed to have this idea that this would carry on or that would carry on, but…how?
For example: Being from Boston, I know that the city is littered with hospitals and biomedical research companies, but just because they are located there isn’t suddenly going to make the outbreak orderly or calm in any way, shape, or form.
You’re going to have thousands, tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of people in the city running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to get to safety. At the same time, they will be fighting with each other to get to or get into any places deemed “safe.”
Do people think that everyone’s going to just go about their business or even be able to go about their business once the population at large realizes there are zombies around?
No way!
How would research towards finding a cure, or anything else, for that matter, even begin when you have no idea how many doctors or scientists (Or whoever) you’d have to throw at the problem?! How would half of them even be able to do their jobs properly when they may not even know if their families or friends are safe?
I just think people are way too optimistic about cities’ or sectors of cities’ abilities to function normally in a situation that’s anything but normal.
