The Walking Dead has been fortunate to feature such amazing actors throughout the 10 seasons of the series. David Morrissey, who played the Governor in seasons 3 and 4, is an amazing actor who portrayed one of The Walking Dead’s most vile villains.

You can see Morrissey in a variety of projects which earned him the title of  “one of the most versatile English actors of his generation” from the British Film Institute. Digital Spy has reported that Morrissey has been cast in a new BBC crime drama called Sherwood.

During his time on The Walking Dead, Morrissey’s Governor reigned terror on Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his group who resided at the prison. He was an evil man who would remove anything or anyone who got in the way of his plans. This is a man who saved walker heads in aquariums and kept his undead daughter chained up in a room at his home. (he was worse in the comics if you are not aware).

You would be hard-pressed to find a more unethical villain in this series. When he was first introduced to the series, he killed unsuspecting soldiers because he knew they would be a threat to his power over the residents of Woodbury. Over time we saw him try to eliminate anyone who would pose a threat to him. In the end, he met his match in Rick and his group, and Michonne (Danai Guiria) ended him with her katana.

Writer and Executive Producer James Graham used the real events surrounding two killings that shook a Nottinghamshire mining village to create this series. Morrissey will portray the detective who must investigate and discover the link between the two killings. This investigation will lead to a manhunt that will cause suspicion between neighbors and law enforcement looking for answers.

Watch for Morrissey in the upcoming vampire fantasy film Dampyr and the drama The Colour Room with Bridgerton’s Phoebe Dynevor (in her feature film debut) and Downton Abbey’s Matthew Goode.
