Survivors on The Walking Dead don’t have it easy. The threat of the undead is scary enough, but when you add in human threats, diseases, and the need for supplies, there can be death around every corner.

The body count is extremely high on the flagship program, with many episodes featuring multiple deaths of named and unnamed characters. In fact, only a few characters from the early seasons have gone on to survive through season 10.

A recent study by Money.UK.co showed the most dangerous fictional TV shows to live in, and AMC’s popular zombie drama series topped the list.

How deadly is The Walking Dead?

Over the course of 147 episodes, there have been an estimated 1,808 deaths, making an average of 12.3 deaths per episode and 180.8 deaths per season. That is a lot of blood and loss for viewers to endure.

This study was a fun way to look at what shows would benefit the most from life insurance. Considering how dangerous The Walking Dead can be, it wouldn’t be shocking if rates were sky-high to be insured.

AMC’s zombie drama beat out shows like Watchmen, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Punisher, and The Umbrella Academy. Other horror and sci-fi shows on the list include Game of Thrones at number nine and American Horror Story at number ten.

If your favorite character is still alive in the world of The Walking Dead, consider yourself lucky. At the rate deaths happen on the show, it can be hard to get attached to any individuals unless they can prove themselves to be the best of the best among the survivors.

Thank you to Money.co.uk for passing this interesting study on to Undead Walking to show that the world of The Walking Dead is a bloody, gory place filled with tons of death around every corner. Hopefully, it also reminds viewers that life is precious, and we need to take good care of ourselves.
