The Walking Dead Universe actors receive Imagen Award nominations

This week the nominees for the 36th Annual Imagen Awards were announced. The Walking Dead universe has some great representation within the nominees. Four actors from the franchise have been nominated, and one series staring one of the nominees, has also received a nomination.

Best Primetime Program – Drama

  • Selena: The Series has been nominated in this category and stars The Walking Dead’s Christian Serratos, who plays the titular character in the Netflix original series. 

Best Actress – Television (Drama)

  • Christian Serratos has been nominated for her portrayal of Selena in the Netflix series Selena: The Series. Serratos plays Rosita in The Walking Dead.

Best Supporting Actor – Television (Drama)

This category puts two of our Fear the Walking Dead castmates up against each other.

  • Ruben Blades has been nominated for his work in Fear the Walking Dead, where he plays Daniel Salazar.
  • Colman Domingo has been nominated for his work on Euphoria Special: Part 1 Rue: “Trouble Don’t Last Always.” 

Best Supporting Actress – Television (Drama)

  • Paola Lazaro has been nominated for her portrayal of Princess on The Walking Dead. 

The Walking Dead universe Imagen Award nominees

The Imagen Awards support and encourage the inclusion of Latinx talent, executives and voices in entertainment media. The award competition was formed in 1985 and since then has featured the best and most talented Latinos in film and television.

It is outstanding that The Walking Dead fandom has such great representation in these nominees. We all know how talented the actors are, but seeing others recognize their greatness is wonderful.

The Walking Dead season 11

We will see Lazaro and Serattos return for the final season of The Walking Dead. Lazaro’s character Princess was last seen as a captive of the Commonwealth with Eugene, Ezekiel and Yumiko. Serratos’  Rosita will be seen in the final season as well.

Fear the Walking Dead season 7

Daniel (Ruben Blades) and Strand (Colman Domingo) will return for the seventh season of Fear the Walking Dead. The final episode of season six ended with the detonation of a nuke. This will make for an interesting story going forward.
