How do you survive in a city in a situation like The Walking Dead?

I’ve spent the last week explaining just how terrible cities would be in a zombie apocalypse like The Walking Dead. So, I decided that I would be more positive for this week’s Survival Rule Of The Week and give you ways to help you survive being in a city should the dead rise.

Of course, I say “a city,” but realistically, I’m going to be talking mostly about Boston. It’s the city I’m most familiar with, and therefore, the one I can most realistically advise about.

I won’t be talking about some random “safe place” the government might send people, but actual places that I’ve been to and why you should or should not go to them. I won’t be simply saying “get out,” but give a direction to go.

The reason I’m doing this is simple: No matter what, there will be people trapped in cities in a zombie apocalypse. It’s almost impossible to imagine that any city would be empty just as some mysterious virus transforms into a societal collapse brought on by hungry corpses, so…I’m not going to.

Since it’s unlikely that most of us will be able to find a way to stop the zombie apocalypse, what I’m going to do instead is try to help you find ways to avoid as many of the problems I spoke of over the last two weeks that I can. If you can avoid the worst problems in a zombie apocalypse, it can make survival that much more likely.
