Ann Mahoney and Vincent M. Ward star in Charming the Hearts of Men
By Renee Hansen
Two of our TWD Family members will star in indie dramedy Charming the Hearts of Men. The film is set in the politically charged 1960s and will premiere in theaters and VOD on August 13.
Charming the Hearts of Men is a film written and directed by S.E. DeRose that was filmed in Madison and Athens, Georgia, in 2019. Based on true events, the story shows all sides of a complex story set in a period of political unrest, and one event will change the lives of women forever.
Grace Gordon (Anna Friel) returns to her hometown in the South when her father suddenly dies. She discovers that her options are limited unless she has a male provider. She enlists the help of a southern congressman (Kelsey Grammer), and together they will help make historic changes for women’s rights.
The film also stars Diane Ladd, Sean Austin, Courtney Gains, Jill Marie Jones, Aml Ameen, Tina Ivlev and our own Ann Mahoney and Vincent M. Ward.
Charming the Hearts of Men is being featured at The Sedona International Film Festival in northern Arizona on August 13-19 at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre.
Ann Mahoney – The Walking Dead and beyond
Mahoney portrayed Olivia, the supply manager at Alexandria, in The Walking Dead. We watched her share an uncomfortable meal with Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), but she did get to slap him, so that made it better. Sadly, she was killed by Arat (Elizabeth Ludlow) in season 7.
She has spent 25 years of her life in the world of acting and has a BA in acting from Greensboro College and her MFA from UCONN. She teaches acting classes and has spent 10 years teaching at a university level.
Mahoney is known for her roles in Bad Moms, 99 Homes, Rectify, Sun Records, The True Don Quixote and Stolen in Plain Sight.
Vincent M. Ward – – The Walking Dead and beyond
Ward is known in The Walking Dead world for his portrayal of Oscar, a prisoner at the West Georgia Correctional Facility. Of the 5 prisoners discovered by Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his group, Oscar was the one who stood out as a brave and honorable man. His quote to Rick always stays with me “I ain’t never pleaded for my life, and I ain’t about to start now…So you do what you gotta do.”
When Ward talked with Undead Walking in the spring, he gave us a lot of news about upcoming projects. He is very excited to bring his original The Step Daddy to fans as well as his horror film Devilreaux.
You can see him in Death House, True Blood, Black Jesus, John Wynn’s Mirror Mirror and Playhouse, 2 Broke Girls and Pysch, with many more features to come.
Mahoney and Ward are authors; you can find more information about their works in our rundown of Walking Dead cast books.
