The Walking Dead will return to Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights

ORLANDO, FL - OCTOBER 25: In this handout photo provided by Universal Orlando, Greg Nicotero, Co-Executive Producer and Director of Special Effects Make-Up Artist for AMC's 'The Walking Dead,' found himself surrounded by a horde of walkers at Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights 24 on October 25, 2014 in Orlando, Florida. During his visit to the event on October 25, Nicotero experienced the real-life terror of his own undead creations inside AMC's The Walking Dead: End of the Line haunted house. The Walking Dead: End of the Line is the biggest house in Halloween Horror Nights history featuring the largest cast of scareactors. It is one of this year's most popular haunted houses, surpassing guest ratings from both 2013's and 2012's incredibly popular experiences based on the hit television show. Universal Studios Hollywood has added more mazes to its annual Halloween Horror Nights on select nights from September 9 – October 31. In honor of The Walking Dead’s eleventh and final season, they will be bringing back the walker-filled maze based on the series.

The Walking Dead attraction has been a permanent attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood in the Year-Round Haunt Venue. It has been featured since the 2016 Halloween Horror Nights event.

It was thought that since the 2020 event was canceled and the series was heading towards its end that The Walking Dead maze would not be featured for 2021. Fans of the series will be glad to know they will have one more opportunity to enjoy this maze.

In 2017 they tried an experimental scare where a horde came out between some trucks. This was a very successful scare, but it was hard to reorganize for the next group, so it was scrapped.
