The Walking Dead good leaders plan

5) In A Zombie Apocalypse, Good Leaders HAVE A PLAN.

Okay, this is the last dunk on Maggie for this week, honest, but I have to say it: If you want proof Maggie was a bad leader in this week’s episode of The Walking Dead, look no further than the fact that, as Negan pointed out, Maggie had no plan for their exploration of the Metro tunnels. None.

A zombie apocalypse is a perpetual life-and-death situation; if you’re going on a supply run, a military campaign, anything that potentially exposes you to the dead, you need to have some plan, a real plan. If your idea is to wing it, you’re, well, going to wind up like Maggie did, with people losing confidence in your leadership (And bailing on you), walking into a dead-end that turns into an ambush, having to scramble to find a way out, and probably losing people in the process that you didn’t need to lose!

You need to know what you’re doing when you decide to do something, know what you’re going to do, what you want your group doing, what you’re going to do if things go sideways, and have an exit strategy. You also need to keep your group from freaking out if things go bad and have a plan to keep them focused and push through their fear and panic.

Know what you’re doing before you do it.
