The Walking Dead Universe actors Thora Birch and Jamie McShane have been cast in Netflix’s live-action series Wednesday. Tim Burton is directing the series in his first televised directorial effort.

Thora Birch played Mary/Gamma in Alpha’s group The Whisperers. She and her sister Frances joined the Whisperers after several failed attempts to join other groups. When Alpha made Frances abandon her baby, she can’t live with this fact and attacks her. Mary saves Alpha and is later anointed Gamma, being made third in charge of the group. She eventually finds her nephew and at the same time finds Lydia, Alpha’s daughter, who she thought dead; this alters her view of the Whisperers leader. She eventually sacrifices herself for her nephew and those caring for him, realizing the mistakes she has made.

Jamie McShane starred in the first spinoff series, Fear the Walking Dead, in season 1. He played Lt. Moyers, a soldier in the US Military. At the beginning of the outbreak, he is assigned to Travis’s neighborhood and charged with clearing the area and seeing that everyone submits to the health screenings. He was last seen entering the library with his squad; they exited without him, claiming he will never come out.
