You’ve heard me say it before; I would listen to Colman Domingo read an owner’s manual. So, of course, I am on board with a Victor Strand spin-off series. Fear the Walking Dead’s token jack of all trades would make an interesting subject of his own series. Colman Domingo thinks so too.

Fear the Walking Dead is set to premiere its seventh season on October 17. The series hasn’t officially been renewed for an eighth season, although showrunners Ian Goldberg and Andrew Chambliss have assured fans this isn’t the last. But, there may eventually be spinoffs of this series. So, why not Strand? Or even his own episode in the Tales of the Walking Dead anthology series?

Colman Domingo has played Strand since the beginning of the series and has made his mark as a chameleon of sorts in that he is always changing and evolving. You never know what other skill he will bring forward, surprising us all with his vast knowledge.

Victor Strand spin-off series

In an interview with Deadline’s Hero Nation Podcast  Domingo shared that he, in fact, pitched the idea of a Strand-led spin-off since Strand is the “James Bond of the zombie apocalypse.”  Domingo will also direct more episodes and has become a producer for the series.

Victor has always been the con man, and when we saw him last, he survived the nuclear blast by holing up in a building with a man named Howard. He lied about his identity until he realized he survived again. He then revealed his true identity, describing himself as a grifter, a shark who has cheated repeatedly without fail, and states that he does it to survive.

Is Strand a villain or a survivor? The answer is yes. He is a survivor because he isn’t afraid to be a villain when needed.

The teaser below states, “prepare for the fallout.” It will be an interesting seventh season as our group is divided; Alicia is who knows where in a bunker, the fallout from the bombs will drastically alter everything. Prepare yourself for an amazing season.
