The Walking Dead isn’t afraid to mix things up and shake up the fandom. One hot button they pushed during season 10 was introducing another woman into the life of Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus). Daryl has always been a loner; he has never had a true love story on screen until season 10. Some fans enjoyed the introduction of Leah into Daryl’s life; others not so much.

Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) are the two longest-running characters in the series. We have seen them go through hell and back together and individually. They both have an abusive background; they can both be lone wolves and face it, they get one another. In more recent episodes, they have butted heads, but their bond is strong; they will endure.

The final season will lead up to the Carol and Daryl spin-off series, which Reedus has said will be nothing like an episode of The Walking Dead. What that means exactly, no one really knows at this point. It will be interesting to see if the flagship series see the duo head off into the sunset or if this will be a topic for the spin-off.

The Walking Dead – Daryl Dixon and Leah

In “Find Me,” we saw present-day and flashbacks of Daryl’s life while he was searching for Rick. Daryl searched for years for any signs of the body of his brother. During this time, he encountered a woman named Leah. She was also a loner, living alone in a cabin with Dog.

It wasn’t love at first sight for these two, if ever really was love at all, but they eventually opened up to one another and did have a sort of relationship. Perhaps created out of loneliness or just the need to feel something after enduring so much heartache.

In the end, Leah gave Daryl an ultimatum. This is never a good thing in any relationship. Daryl chose his brother Rick over Leah, which makes sense as he had only known her for a short period of time. She didn’t like his choice and vanished.

She took her son’s photo, so it is unlikely that she was abducted, but the cabin was trashed, so it is a possibility. The theory around the fandom is that she is now a Reaper, and we will see her in season 11.

So, was she a Reaper when Daryl met her? Or did they abduct her, and she joined them?

We know she was part of some sort of squad, and she bears a military tattoo. She seems tough and knows how to handle a weapon. In the trailer, we see Dog standing next to a masked Reaper. We know Dog is only loyal to Daryl and possibly Leah since she raised him from birth.

All signs point to this being her, so what will happen next?

In an interview with TV Line, Reedus summed it up pretty well “‘Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned? That might come into play.”

A fascinating comment as we have seen that the Reapers capture Daryl in many of the trailer clips. Will Leah take some sort of revenge on Daryl for leaving her? It will be an exciting reunion, that is for sure!
