In a Q&A session with AMC, The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus was questioned about Pope and his Reapers. Reedus had a lot to say about Daryl’s reunion with Leah, finding out she is a Reaper and his thoughts on Pope and how he is like the Murphy brothers.

When Leah was featured in “Find Me” in season 10, Lynn Collins, the actress who plays Leah, knew she would return. Other cast and crew also knew this, and Reedus was one of them. He knew the character would return and that she would have something to do with the Reapers. What he didn’t know was that she would be a part of this group.

When Leah came up missing, her cabin had been shot up. The cabin was ransacked, and bullet holes riddled the walls. It was thought that she might have been kidnapped. But, her son’s photo was missing, which made it obvious she had time to grab that personal item. This is a mystery still unsolved, even after Daryl has talked with Leah about leaving.

Leah made it seem like she came back to her squad willingly, but now that she is back, does she regret her decision? Is Pope more of a zealot than she remembers? When Pope threw Bossie into the fire in “Rendition,” the look she threw Daryl’s way was almost a plead for help.

Fans of Norman Reedus are usually familiar with his role in the Boondock Saints movies as Murphy MacManus. Sean Patrick Flannery plays his twin brother Connor. They play vigilante bothers who feel they are called by God to rid their hometown of Boston of crime and evil.

In the AMC Q&A, Reedus is asked about Pope, and his comment is as follows:

"It’s very Boondock Saints. It’s very ‘God has given us permission to do these things’ and it’s very much like that. If he was just like, “I’m doing whatever I want and everyone get out of my way,” but didn’t have some sort of reasoning behind it, even if it makes sense only to him"

Sounds very much like the MacManus brothers and their calling.
