The Walking Dead hostiles

The Walking Dead might be able to walk into a hostile camp, but YOU can’t, not without a plan.

Let’s start with the first problem Maggie’s team had to overcome: Getting into Meridian. While the Reapers didn’t have numbers anywhere near what, say, the Saviors had, the few of them greatly outnumbered Maggie’s team. They were far better armed and better trained than any one of them, including Daryl, so strolling into Meridian was entirely out of the question. They needed something, a plan or distraction, to give them the chance to slip in unnoticed.

And they had one.

Thanks to Negan, Maggie’s team had chosen to employ Whisperer tactics, using as many nearby walkers as they could find to distract the Reapers. This gave them something more significant to worry about while Maggie and Father Gabriel snuck into Meridian and used the distraction Negan’s plan provided to get what they needed.

Should you find yourself in a zombie apocalypse, sooner or later, you’re going to find yourself facing off with a more significant force of enemies than you can reasonably deal with, and, in order to get past them, you need to think outside the box.

Now, this could be doing as Maggie did and finding a way to lure zombies to your enemies. Or, it could be giving them another problem to worry about, like a fire or a blackout, or something as simple as having a reliable way of making noise somewhere far off, which draws the dead. These are just a few examples of things that you can do to get past large numbers of enemies. The important thing is realizing that there will be times that being straightforward won’t work, and having plans to keep your enemy focused on something other than you is the better way to go.
