Deadline reports that The Walking Dead’s Josh McDermitt has been cast in a new political thriller, Lilly. McDermitt currently portrays Eugene Porter on the long-running series that is in its eleventh and final season.

Lilly is a film based on the life of Lilly Ledbetter, for whom The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act of 2009 is named. This act was the first piece of legislation by former US President Barack Obama that requires employers to ensure that their pay practices are non-discriminatory and that records are kept to reflect this fairness has been followed.

The film will focus on the fight for justice and the love story between the Ledbetter’s and Lilly’s husband’s neverending support of his wife during her fight.

McDermitt joins Oscar nominee Patricia Clarkson, Tony Award nominee Thomas Sadoski, and Josh Lucas, who have already been announced for the film. Josh McDermitt, The Walking Dead – Eugene Porter

McDermitt has portrayed Eugene in The Walking Dead since the character’s introduction in season 4. Since that time, this character has undergone drastic changes, but much of his personality has remained the same.

Going into season eleven, Eugene has contacted a new community, the Commonwealth, via a woman named Stephanie. Eugene, Ezekiel, Yumiko, and their newly found friend Princess were all captured by the new group and now find themselves on the inside of a community that is almost too good to be true.

After being accepted into the community, Eugene makes some major faux pas and now finds himself incarcerated because of his actions. The payment for being released…he must give up the location of Alexandria.

Alexandria is in dire need of food and other supplies making this an extremely tough decision for Eugene. From the looks of the trailer for part two of season eleven, Eugene will give up the location. What this means for the future of Alexandria, we will have to wait and see.
