Jadis is the first crossover of a Walking Dead character to World Beyond

At the end of this week’s episode of World Beyond, we got our first-ever crossover of a Walking Dead character into World Beyond: Jadis.

In her brief appearance, Jadis, now known as Warrant Officer Stokes, informs Lyla that Lieutenant Colonel Kublek has business to attend to with Major General Beale at the CR. Stokes will now be the one Lyla reports to from here on out and provide her with test subjects. The first of these new test subjects was Sergeant Barca, fresh off his stint at the CRM “Health And Welfare Complex.”

Firstly, let me say that I’m so glad that the “Health And Welfare Complex” wasn’t the sinister death camp I imagined it to be. I mean, clearly, Sergeant Barca is in fine physical condition, so fine that he can be deemed healthy enough for medical experimentation! It’s not like these experiments result in something terrible happening to the test subjects; oh, wait, wasn’t Lyla, the person who was doing experiments on her former colleague from Portland as a walker? Yeah, I distinctly remember that.

Now, as for Stokes, it makes perfect sense that she be put in charge of providing Lyla with test subjects, considering her previous role while leading the Scavengers in The Walking Dead. Even back then, she was collecting people and determining their potential value to the CRM before handing them over. This seems like a natural evolution of that role, now doing it on a more official capacity for the CRM directly, selecting people within their reach for nefarious purposes.

I suppose that if we were ever going to get a crossover character from The Walking Dead, Stokes (Jadis) would be the most likely candidate because if we are going to see Rick, it won’t be until The Walking Dead movies. But, her role within the CRM now, providing Lyla with test subjects, really doesn’t bode well for Rick. Sure, he might not be a test subject, but one has to imagine that he’s in a position where, if Stokes so ordered, he could be. This also likely means that, wherever he might be within the CR, it will certainly be within a role where his fate lies entirely under the CRM’s control. Whether that’s as a forced conscript, fighting walkers, doing cleanup like Silas, forced labor, or simply as a prisoner.

With Stokes at the CR, giving scientists people to turn into walkers, I think Rick is in a dire position, where his best option is as a forced soldier, and his remaining options are slave, prisoner, or potential test subject. None of those are good.
