Stephen Campbell Walking Dead cinemetographer is remembered by cast
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead universe is more than just a franchise; it is a family. TWD Family is something that was created around a series based on a comic. Members from all over the world feel a kinship with their fellow TWD Family members. We celebrate each other triumphs, lend a hand when needed and mourn each other’s losses. This week the fandom lost Stephen Campbell, who was a long-time director of photography for the series.
Campbell was the director of photography on The Walking Dead for seven seasons. His daughter Aubrie shared via Facebook, “In 2013 he moved to Atlanta, Georgia to join the crew of The Walking Dead. For seven seasons of zombies and apocalyptic mayhem, he created genre-defining imagery for the hit television show. He was so, so proud of that work.”
He attended Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida and loved the Florida sunshine. His first break came in 1984 when he was a camera assistant on Michael Jackson’s “Thriller World Tour.”
