Fear the Walking Dead does Strand really have Wendell at the Tower?
By Renee Hansen
Fear the Walking Dead’s most recent episode, “Breath With Me,” was a Sarah-centric (Mo Collins) story. The series has continued its anthology episodes with a focus on one or two major characters. Sarah is worried about her brother Wendell (Daryl Mitchell) and goes in search of him against the wishes of the rest of the group.
As the episode starts, we see Sarah wake up, and she has no clue where she is. It is a bit of mystery as we watch her and eventually learn she is at Fort San Vicente. She finds that Al, Wes, Jacob, Daniel, Luciana and Charlie are all there.
She is happy to see that everyone is unharmed after their helicopter crash-landed. When she asks about Wendell and discovers he isn’t there, she wants to search for him. Everyone tells her it’s a bad idea, but she goes anyway.
Fear the Walking Dead Wendell
We watch as she searches and calls for him on the radio with no luck. She is determined and will not give up. She eventually reaches Morgan on the radio, but someone else was listening as well.
She meets up with Rufus and Josiah, twin brother of Emilie, who is actively looking for Morgan. He offers her help in finding Wendell as long as she gives up Morgan. She agrees, most likely thinking she will come up with a plan in the meantime or that Morgan can handle this man.
They meet up with a Stalker who Rufus discovers has Wendell’s handkerchief. Josiah demands he take them to where he found the item. The Stalker takes them to a barn that houses a large number of walkers. Then we witness the most heartbreaking part of the episode when she finds Wendell’s wheelchair covered in walker guts. Sarah’s pain is so real we all ache for her. The bond between these two characters is a forever one, and she needs him.
We hear the story of the day Sarah was born, and she met her twin, the baby born on the same day which she needed to be near to breathe properly, Wendell. It is a touching story that shows just because they were born of different mothers, these two have a stronger bond than most biologically born siblings.
Eventually, Josiah, Sarah and Morgan make it to Strand’s Tower, and he tells them Wendell is safe and sound inside. This is the first we have all heard of this, and we know Strand will do or say anything to get more people on his side.
Do you think Wendell is in the Tower? Or is Strand resorting to any tactic to get people away from Morgan and on his side?
Fear the Walking Dead returns to AMC on November 14 with “Till Death.” This episode is currently available on AMC+.
