Who is Jadis in The Walking Dead universe?
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead universe has had some great crossover characters from the flagship to the spin-off series Fear the Walking Dead. Currently, Morgan (Lennie James), Sherry (Christine Evangelista) and Dwight (Austin Amelia) have made the transition and are now main characters on Fear TWD. The second spin-off series, The Walking Dead World Beyond, has its crossover character in Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh).
Jadis, who is now known as Warrant Officer Stokes on World Beyond, made her debut in “Who Are You,” which aired on AMC on November 7. We learn something of what has transpired since we last saw her on The Walking Dead.
Who is Jadis in The Walking Dead?
Jadis was introduced in season seven of The Walking Dead. She was the leader of a group known as the Scavengers who lived at a junkyard. They were a tight-knit group with their own broken language. Her loyalties flip-flopped between Rick’s group and the Saviors depending on her needs, but ultimately she was in it for the good of her group.
After Simon massacred her group in season eight, Jadis was alone, and Gabriel extended her an invitation to join him at Alexandria. From then on, she was known as Anne, and after the time jump in season nine, she had made her way into Rick’s group and was a productive member. She even formed a relationship with Gabriel.
She finally admitted to Gabriel that she was trading people to the CRM for supplies. As she was on her way to escape the area via a CRM helicopter, she spotted a severely wounded Rick Grimes on the river bank; this was after the bridge explosion. Rick was her ticket to admission into the CR.
Fast forward six years later, and Jadis/Anne is entirely emersed in the CRM lifestyle and is known as Warrant Officer Jadis Stokes when she is introduced on World Beyond. She was trained by Jennifer “Huck” Mallick, the daughter of Lieutenant Colonel Elizabeth Mallick.
Stokes has been assigned to the CRM facility to do some investigating while Lt. Colonel Mallick is away. She seems ruthless and not about to let things go without thoroughly investigating any lead she feels is essential.
It is exciting to have Jadis back on a series, and as she seems to be a villain for World Beyond, it will be an interesting change from the woman we initially met.
The Walking Dead: World Beyond returns to AMC on November 14 with “Blood and Lies.” This episode is currently available to stream on AMC+.
