Many fans of The Walking Dead enjoy watching other zombie-themed movies and shows. It is always interesting to see creators different versions of the undead. There are many to choose from, some better than others. Recently Marvel introduced some zombies via the What If… series.

“What if…Zombies” was a very well-done production of zombies in the MCU. I am no MCU aficionado, but I loved the concept, and the execution of this was enjoyable. There were a few moments where I questioned something left unresolved, but things resolved nicely by the end of the episode, meeting my expectations.

This episode featured many Marvel characters, some as themselves, others as zombie counterparts. Danai Gurira plays Michonne on The Walking Dead, and Okoye, a Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero, voiced her MCU character in this episode.

Marvel Zombies trailer

Since this series was only just announced, there is no trailer at this time.  Beware, there are some brilliantly fan-made videos out there that you may mistake for the real thing.

Disney+ Day 2021 announced many new features coming soon, including Marvel Zombies, whose logo art is featured below.

Given the success of the “What if…Zombies” episode, it is no surprise that Marvel Zombies is being developed. If someone can mash together Jane Austen and zombies in Pride and

Prejudice Zombies and create a zombie musical in Anna and the Apocalypse; I say why not bring zombies to the MCU.

The announcement from Marvel:

"The animated series from Marvel Studios reimagines the Marvel Universe as a new generation of heroes battle against an ever-spreading zombie scourge. Directed by Executive Producer Bryan Andrews and written by Executive Producer Zeb Wells."

Next. Norman Reedus as Ghost Rider? Will he join the MCU?. dark

When I first heard about this, I wondered if this series would pick up where “What if…Zombies” left off, but the emphasis on “a new generation” makes it seem that this will happen in a different timeline. Besides what Marvel shared above, we don’t know much else about this series. It will be interesting to see how it develops.
