The Walking Dead Theory: Why Does The Civic Republic Want Rick?

The Walking Dead theory: Rick is IMMUNE.

I know this might sound crazy, but let’s look at what the Civic Republic Military appears to be doing in the Walking Dead: World Beyond. It seems as if the CRM (Or the CR in general) are working towards a cure for the zombie virus throughout both seasons.

What if the reason Rick was deemed “very valuable” to them after they got him is that he is the key to unlocking that cure? What if all the experiments Dr. Belshaw is doing is testing variations of Rick’s antibodies on people, hoping to find the right combination to trigger some reaction in the recently turned? Either to stop them from being active, or maybe, even undo the zombification entirely?

I go to this because, from the outside, it would seem like the CRM either has all the leadership that it wants, or it wouldn’t want the kind of leadership that Rick would provide. Even with Rick’s extensive tenacity and ingenuity since the outbreak, he doesn’t seem like the kind of person the CRM would want rubbing off on people, considering that we’ve seen them effectively have subordinates turned into walkers for questioning an immoral order.

Furthermore, what else could the CRM want that Rick could give them? I mean, Jadis could have given them plenty of intelligence on the communities in Virginia. And they have the best military equipment possible for the situation they find themselves in. And, they seem to have answers for every other major threat, so what else could Rick provide them with that’s so important to them?

I think all of the experiments, even the apparent weaponization of the zombie virus, that we’ve seen in World Beyond are borne out of testing an immunological gold mine inside Rick’s body. Their continued holding of him is because they see him as the best hope humanity has of overcoming the disease they all now carry.

Of course, this is all if they only deemed him valuable after Jadis brought him to them.
