This Sunday will be a BIG one in The Walking Dead universe. The Walking Dead World Beyond, the second spin-off series, will see its story come to an end. The first spin-off, Fear the Walking Dead, will have its midseason finale for the seventh season, AND Talking Dead is supposed to have some major announcement in addition to its wonderful guest list and surprise guest.

Talking Dead posted the news that set the fandom into a tizzy and has Rick Grimes trending on Twitter. Fans all expected to hear something about Rick Grimes and the promised Walking Dead movies.

This would only be a logical announcement as the flagship series is ending in 2022, and filming for that season should be wrapping in March 2022. So, next would come the movies, right? Wrong, I guess.

The Walking Dead Rick Grimes

Chief Content Officer of The Walking Dead, Scott Gimple, retweeted Talking Dead’s tweet, and the crowds went wild. He then retracted a bit and said that although the announcement is BIG, it won’t have anything to do with Rick Grimes.

Evidently, the announcement is something else that’s been a long time coming. Fans can’t imagine what would be more critical than Rick Grimes news.

Gimple goes on to say in the thread, “THANK YOU for being with us on this journey; every day

all around the country (& the world!) we endeavor to make stuff to thrill you, to intrigue you, to make you feel — we’re working hard not to let you down. If you dig the TWDU, Sunday’s news will be massive and momentous. 2/2”

What could be so momentous? I guess we will wait and see on Sunday.

There are many avenues this franchise could go, and most of the fandom will just be happy to see it continue. Nothing will ever compare to the flagship series, but if they can figure out how to carry on the stories and make them good, the fandom will be on board.
