The Walking Dead’s Hershel Greene died 8 years ago

One of the most loved characters in The Walking Dead series was Hershel Greene (Scott Wilson). He was a voice of reason and a wonderful father/friend/mentor that people looked up to. On December 3, 2013 viewers watched as this beloved character was beheaded by the Governor in “Too Far Gone.”
In this episode, we saw the Governor use his two captives, Hershel and Michonne, as leverage to take over the prison. He convinced his new followers that the residents of the prison mutilated him, burned his former community, and killed his daughter. Believing his lies they were willing to assist him in the takeover.
Rick tried reasoning with the Governer to spare his friend’s lives he says “We get to come back, I know we all can change,” Philip then mutters “liar”, as fans watched in horror as he used Michonne’s katana to behead Hershel in front of his family and friends.

Hershel Greene’s legacy continues with his grandson who is named after him. Young Hershel (Kien Michael Spiller) reappeared in season 10 when he and his mother Maggie (Lauren Cohan) returned to Alexandria.
In season 11 we see that young Hershel is now learning to defend himself under the instruction of Judith Grimes (Cailey Fleming). It is great to see the next generation being groomed to carry on the legacies of their families.
The series will end in 2022 and it would be an amazing story to see the kids of Alexandria as adults in an episode of Tales of the Walking Dead.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC for part 2 of season 11 on February 20, 2022,
