The Walking Dead World Beyond after credit scene ties to Walking Dead
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead World Beyond series finale had a spectacular scene that rolled after the credits. The cool thing about this scene is that it tied into The Walking Dead season one episode “TS-19.” The other cool tie-in, this bonus scene, aired on December 5, 2021, and “TS-19” aired eleven years earlier on December 5, 2010.
This bonus scene has been on the fandom’s minds as it is dissected and analyzed for any clues. You can read my initial thoughts on the scene in this article, Walking Dead World Beyond post-credit scene.
It was very cool to see a familiar face in this bonus scene. We again saw Dr. Edwin Jenner (Noah Emmerich), who we met back at the CDC in The Walking Dead’s first season. Jenner is the one who told Rick (Andrew Lincoln), “we’re all infected.” This is something that Rick was not surprised to hear after he witnessed Shane’s (Jon Bernthal) reanimation without being bit.

It is assumed that this scene is in France, as they speak French, and the computer also has French text. Dr. Jenner told Rick and his group that the French were the last hold-outs and thought they were close to a solution. Did their research backfire, and instead, they created a variant that produces fast, strong and possibly intelligent walkers? And, this walker reanimated after the person was shot in the head!
This opens up something very new for the fandom. If this variant was discovered back when Jenner was still alive, that means it has been rampant in other parts of the world, which would be unknown to the US. The fact that a headshot didn’t stop this one from reanimating makes you question how can they be killed?
Fans were hoping for an announcement of an international spin-off, but that wasn’t cast. Gimple has said that this scene does open up TWDU to new possibilities. Most likely, we will see a spin-off or something that takes place in a different part of the world.
