Fear the Walking Dead renewed for season eight

AMC had some significant announcements for Fear the Walking Dead on Talking Dead this week. The series has been renewed for an eighth season and will return to AMC with the back half of season seven on April 17. This is exciting news, but it isn’t the most exciting announcement for The Walking Dead spin-off series. Kim Dickens, who played Madison Clark in seasons 1-4, will also be returning.
In season four of Fear TWD, Madison was assumed to have been killed in a heroic act at the Dell Diamond stadium. Her final episode’s title, “No One’s Gone,” seems to have accidentally foreshadowed her return. Fans have been hoping that Madison survived especially when Alicia met up with others who survived, due to Madison’s actions, in season six.
Madison’s return will occur in the second half of season seven, and she will once again be a series regular, with her character appearing in the eighth season as well. We will most likely get some background on where she has been for all these years, but she will be returning to Alicia and her current fragile state. Let’s hope they don’t have Madison return to find Alicia on her death bed.
Fear the Walking Dead midseason finale
The midseason finale for Fear TWD gave us some insight into what Alicia experienced in Teddy’s bunker. Teddy had prepared his followers for her arrival, telling them that she would be their leader. She wanted nothing more than to find a way to escape the bunker to find her friends.
She met Will, an aide to Senator Elias Vazquez, who had been in the bunker since the very beginning of the outbreak. He assisted her in trying to find a way out and tended to her after she was bitten and amputated her own arm. This is the same character we saw Strand throw off the roof in “The Beacon.”
Alicia believes she didn’t remove her arm before the virus entered her system. Her body seems to be fighting it, but she thinks it’s only a matter of time before she turns. It will be interesting to see what happens to her in the back half of season seven.
This episode has also set up a war for the remainder of this season. Alicia has declared war on Strand, and he is ready to fight. Madison will most likely play a massive role in this war between her daughter and friend.
