The Walking Dead World Beyond: Has Elizabeth Kublek met Rick Grimes?
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead World Beyond series has come to a close. The series finale was very well done and left us wanting more stories. Many characters got great endings, like Hope (Alexa Mansour) and Iris (Aliyah Royale), but others weren’t so lucky. We saw the deaths of Jennifer/Huck (Annet Mahendru), Percy (Ted Sutherland) and Dennis (Maximilian Osinski). And, we saw Lt. Colonel Elizabeth Kublek (Julia Ormond) thrown in jail for treason while mourning the loss of her daughter.
Kublek has been no saint during the two seasons of this series but losing a child is a tough thing to bear. You can almost feel a bit of sympathy for her as we saw her devoid of her CRM uniform with a look of sorrow on her face.
Perhaps at the end, she was second-guessing choices she made, but only after she was caught and her daughter was killed trying to undo more of what her mother had planned. She made decisions that resulted in so much death and destruction. As a member of the CRM, she should have protected lives instead of destroying them.
The Walking Dead World Beyond Elizabeth Kublek
In an interview with TV Insider, Ormond answered some excellent questions about her character.
She shared that she felt that Kublek was appropriately disciplined for her actions. That she wouldn’t be seconded guessing her choices had Jennifer lived. And, in Ormond’s fantasy future for the character, she would have her turn a corner and lead people to a better future.
When asked if Kublek ever met Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), she replied that in her opinion, Kublek has most likely met him, but it meant nothing to her as she doesn’t know who he is outside of the CR. Perhaps we will see Kublek in the movies, and we will witness the interaction between the two. It makes one curious to know how Rick would feel about her actions. Rick has done many things outside the scope of what is right but has never destroyed a city with the intent to destroy another.
Maybe Kublek will turn that corner and get the fantasy story that Ormond wishes for her. Ormond did a great job portraying this character, and it is an honor to have her as part of TWD Family.
