Who’s The Most IRREDEEMABLE Villain Of The Walking Dead: World Beyond?

I think it’s pretty apparent at this point, but Jadis is, far and away, the WORST villain in this season of World Beyond.

There’s something I left out about my original analysis of Jadis. Way back in season seven of The Walking Dead, I had also characterized her as having something of a Martin-esque “So long as it’s not me, I don’t care,” quality to her, and, if I’m being honest, I think that is what ties this all together.

For a refresher, Martin was one of the inhabitants of Terminus in season five of The Walking Dead, and I named him one of the most irredeemable villains in the series. He just plain didn’t give a damn about anyone or anything. To him, killing (And eating) someone wasn’t a necessary evil. It wasn’t a way of expressing his rage. It wasn’t even a sick pleasure; it was just ordinary. This was as ordinary for him as going to a store is for anyone else. That callousness made him, in my mind, worse than Gareth, worse than Shane, worse than the Governor, worse than all the villains who came before.

Jadis is getting like that.

She still has a modicum of humanity in her. She intentionally misled the CRM to spare Rick’s life, and she is traumatized by the Scavengers’ destruction. But, she is so detached from her prior existence in Virginia and the human connections she had there (The Scavengers, Rick, Father Gabriel) that she has drifted further and further away from it.

Now, locking Dr. Belshaw in a room with a zombified Sergeant Barca, betraying Colonel Kublek, ordering mass executions, and knowing about the massacre of over a hundred thousand people mean nothing to her. Like Martin, it’s all ordinary to her.

Worse still, so much of this also seemed to be part of one long, Machiavellian scheme to slither up the CRM’s ranks. They have the largest, most organized, and capable military in the Walking Dead universe. The CRM is free of any oversight by the Civic Republic government. With Jadis being one of, if not the highest ranking person to actually have oversight of that military. Jadis views such despicable actions as ordinary, if not justified. How long do you think it would be before she sicced the CRM on all other communities in North America, massacring them the same way they did to Omaha?

That may make her not just the most irredeemable villain in this season of World Beyond, but also the most irredeemable villain in all of The Walking Dead universe.
