Who plays Carl in The Walking Dead series on AMC?
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead is currently in its eleventh season, which will also be the final. As we think back to the beginning and remember all the great characters and episodes, it is bittersweet to recall cast members we have lost. One fan-favorite character who fans feel was killed way too soon was Carl Grimes.
As one of the original children of the series, Carl held a special place in the fandom’s hearts. When he was shot in season two, fans were sure he would live; when he was shot again in season six, it was unsure what his fate would be. But, to see him unexpectedly bitten in season six and know there was saving him was too much for his fans.
Carl’s death episode was heartbreaking to watch and realize he would never carry out his comic story. In the comics, Carl lives until the end, happily married to Sophia and they had a daughter.
Chandler Riggs: The Walking Dead
Carl Grimes was played by child actor Chandler Riggs, who started this role when he was 10 years old and would play Carl until he was 19. He will always hold a special place in the hearts of The Walking Dead fandom as viewers watched him grow up.
Riggs was nine years old when he landed his first two major roles. He played Tom in the film Get Low and had a small part in The Wronged Man.
After he departed from TWD, he starred in the film Only with fellow TWD actors Joshua Mikel (Jared) and Jayson Warner Smith (Gavin). He would then have a role in the TV movie Inherit the Viper and the Netflix series A Million Little Things.
Riggs is also a DJ and has produced music under the stage name Eclipse.
Undead Walking will keep you updated on any new projects that Chandler Riggs is involved in.
