Fear the Walking Dead, Survival rule of the week: Getting into trouble

Fear the Walking Dead: keep your friends close
Another problem Strand has his tumultuous relationship with Morgan, a fissure that Strand created in the first place. He did this when he stupidly tried to kill Morgan inside the U.S.S. Pennsylvania to make himself “the hero” and stop Teddy Maddox from launching the Pennsylvania’s nuclear warheads.
Strand would go on to make that relationship worse by raiding the Pennsylvania (Which Morgan, Grace, and Mo have been calling home since the warheads landed) and taking most of the supplies inside. In spite of several tense run-ins with Morgan (With zero attempts to make up for his past transgressions), Strand decided to try to get Morgan to help him find Alicia in the hopes of bringing her to The Tower to help him lead his new community.
Morgan did try to kill Strand during what had been a friendly drink, but in all that time, Strand never once attempted to patch things up properly with Morgan, considering everything he’d done to damage their relationship in the first place.
The point of all this is that, in an apocalypse, the world becomes a little bit smaller with so many people turning. Meaning that, among the few living people you come across, it might be a good idea not to make them hate your guts if you can avoid it.
As Strand realized he felt he needed Alicia and that Morgan was the only person he could ask to parlay with her, he could, nay should have tried to repair things with Morgan before making any requests. If he had acknowledged his screw-up at the sub, may be offered a place for any members of their group that Morgan found, even ones he may not have liked, it’s possible that Morgan would have reconsidered his plan and heard Strand out. Especially after the attack by Arno and the Stalkers, and how that situation adjusted Strand’s outlook (Before realizing what Morgan had done), they might have realized that they did still have common ground, and being around people they know who aren’t hostiles, is a hell of a lot better than being out in the wasteland with weirdos like the Stalkers.
This is why, if you know people who aren’t hostiles in a zombie apocalypse, it would be a good idea to ensure that you don’t do things that would make them hostile. Those who aren’t your enemies should be your friends. Don’t mess that up.
