Fear the Walking Dead season 7

During the attack on Strand’s tower by Arno and his Stalkers and Morgan’s attempt to poison him simultaneously, Strand lost his unshakeable confidence in his ability to read and judge other people. It caused him to immediately become paranoid, inhibiting his ability to make decisions at a critical time where people needed him to make decisions.

Confidence in oneself is a vital thing to have, there is always the possibility that it can transform into overconfidence, and that’s when disaster can happen. If a person goes around thinking that every decision they make is the right one, they won’t be prepared when that day inevitably comes that they are wrong.

Let’s face it: Nobody is perfect. Everyone gets something wrong at least once in their lives. In a zombie apocalypse, mistakes can be deadly depending on the circumstances.

The thing is: Most people in the apocalypse will be aware of this and at least try to have contingency plans ready if things go wrong. But, if a person thinks they’re always right, either because they don’t want to fathom being mistaken or because they legit won’t even imagine it as a possibility, they won’t have backup plans, leaving them kind of screwed in the event they need them.

This is a simple thing to fix: Accept that there’s always the chance you may make a wrong decision — Don’t second guess everything by any means, just know not everyone bats a thousand — and, just in case, have a backup plan or two on deck. Preparation is key to making sure bad decisions don’t cascade into disasters.

And that’s our Walking Dead Survival Rule Of The Week! A zombie apocalypse is bad enough to begin with, but it can become an even bigger disaster if we make bad or straight-up dumb decisions that get us into trouble. Impulsiveness, shortsightedness, overconfidence, and denial can make bad situations worse.
