The Walking Dead season 11 trailer is action packed!
By Renee Hansen
Fans of The Walking Dead have been displeased with the lack of promotion for part two of the eleventh season. In October 2021, a short teaser was released for the next eight episodes, but not much else since then. Until, now!
One day before the trailer’s release, a short clip was posted featuring Khary Payton, who plays Ezekiel, and Paola Lázaro, who plays Princess announcing the release date for the official 11B trailer as January 19. Social media blew up as fans anticipated the new trailer that would give a glimpse into what will come next.
At the end of part one, viewers were left with numerous cliffhangers. The Reaper’s vs. Maggie and her crew was left in the middle of a fierce fight when Leah ordered the hwacha to be fired. Alexandria was in the midst of a massive storm, and a horde of walkers had entered the community via the damaged walls.
We also saw Eugene in hot water at the Commonwealth for breaking some of their laws. He was being bribed by Lance Hornsby. His choices were to give up the location of Alexandria or serve time in their jail.
The Walking Dead season 11 trailer
The trailer opens with a voice-over by Ezekiel saying: Darkness is heavy; some of us carry more than others because we are strong enough to hold the weight. As he says these words, we see clips of Daryl, Maggie, Aaron, Carol and Judith, who all carry a heavy burden of trauma and loss.
This trailer is quick, but we learn a lot. Almost too much, as most of the cliffhangers are answered. We don’t know the how, but we can see who survived the scenes that left us on the edge of our seats.
The Reapers clips are sprinkled throughout the trailer, and we see Daryl has Carver as a hostage as Leah and two others bear down on him. It also appears Carver has a run-in with Negan. I don’t imagine Carver makes it out alive. The trailer also shows us who does survive that altercation, at least from our main group. We also see Daryl shouting NO to Maggie as she shoots at someone. Could it be Leah? Or is that too obvious?
The next eight episodes will be Commonwealth heavy as we see many of our favorites in this new community. The governor, Pamela Milton, will be introduced, and we see clips of a disheveled-looking Lance and a very scared Sebastian, who you will remember is Milton’s douchy son.
Carol’s baking cookies, which means someone is in trouble, and just about everyone is in some sort of altercation. It looks like Eugene’s Stephaine might be missing, or is that something old?
Sadly, we see nothing of Alden, whose fate we can all probably guess.
We see some new faces, which is always exciting! Angela Kang has said that new people will be introduced in the second part of the season.
Overall it was an exciting trailer, and it was great that so many characters were highlighted as it seems many times favorites are overlooked.
The Walking Dead returns to AMC on February 20.
