By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead World Beyond actor Jelani Alladin has been cast in the Beauty and the Beast prequel for Disney+.
Deadline has reported that Alladin will join the previously announced cast of Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Briana Middleton and Fra Fee. This series will be set years before Belle met her Beast and fell in love.
A prequel of the 2017 live-action Beauty and the Beast, the series will be a musical that consists of eight episodes. The story will follow Gaston (Evans), LeFou (Gad) and LeFou’s step-sister Tilly (Middleton) as they embark on a journey when Tilly discovers something from her past. They will travel the kingdom searching for answers and discover the kingdom holds many secrets.
Alladin will portray Jean-Michel, a charming, cool, artist who is witty, intelligent and fiercely independent.
He made his Broadway debut in the musical Frozen in the role of Kristoff. In a Public Works staging of Hercules, he played the titular character; you can see his outstanding performance of “Go the Distance” here.
Jelani Alladin – other roles
Alladin portrayed Will on The Walking Dead: World Beyond and was a vital part of the story in the final season of the series. He accompanied Dr. Leo Bennett to the CRM research location in New York. He eventually learned of the destruction of the Campus Colony, but after he asked too many questions, he was forced to go on the run from the CRM.
In the end, we saw that he and Felix got their happily ever after. With World Beyond setting up things for The Walking Dead movies, it would be awesome to see Will and Felix again.
Additional roles you may have seen Alladin in include The Weirdos Next Door, FBI, Law & Order: SpecialVictims Unit, Respect and tick, tick…BOOM!
