The Walking Dead Origins: schedule change on AMC
By Renee Hansen
The Walking Dead: Origins is a mini-series created as part of the season 11 promotional materials. They feature four episodes with a focus on a main character and their evolution throughout the series. This series was previously only released on AMC+, but now AMC will be airing these episodes heading into the premiere of season 11B on February 20.
When this series initially aired, the order of the episodes was Daryl’s Story, Maggie’s Story, Negan’s Story and Carol’s Story. The original announcement had these episodes scheduled in the original order, but that has now been changed for some reason.
The current AMC schedule for these episodes shows that Negan’s story will release Jan. 30, which is the thrid of the series. Perhaps this has been a typo on the AMC schedule, or they are just airing them out of the original order.

The new schedule, according to AMC, is as follows:
Negan’s Story – Sunday, January 30
Carol’s Story – Sunday, February 6
Maggie’s Story – Sunday, February 13
Daryl’s story was aired the previous week, and it is an excellent look into one of the two remaining characters from season one.
All four featured characters are fan favorites which is most likely why these are the featured characters. Not all fans love them all, but each one has a fan base that is fiercely protective of their favorite.
Heading into the final season of any series, no one is safe. Major characters can easily be killed off, but the reality is these four characters are most likely safe.
Daryl and Carol are scheduled to head off to a spin-off series that will focus on this pair. Caryl is the name for this duo, and many fans want to see them as a couple. And, not just what we have seen in the series so far, but a true couple. Their friendship stemmed from season one when Daryl handed her that pickax to smash in the head of her dead, abusive husband, Ed. Daryl, an abuse victim himself, could understand her need to take out the years of abuse on his corpse. This was the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
Negan will most likely survive as his fan base is also huge, and there have been talks of his spin-off series also. A character who started as a villain has tried to redeem himself for his past actions. These actions have yet to impress many within the communities, but he keeps pressing on. Can he keep up his good-guy persona, or will his villainous past rear its head in the final season?
Maggie is also most likely safe as she had been gone from the series for years and only recently made her return. She and her son Hershel are also fan favorites of many. Maggie and Negan’s tension has been front and center in season 11A and looks like it will continue into 11B.
The Walking Dead season 11 episode 9 premiers on AMC on February 20. If you are an AMC+ subscriber, this episode will be available on that service on February 13.
