What If They Were Never Your Friend In The First Place?

I’m just going to say this right now: I think Lance Hornsby is extremely sketchy. I find him a little too helpful, and I’m always waiting for the other shoe to drop — I even wrote a Walking Dead theory about this very thing which I’ll link to later — because I think his helpfulness is disingenuous.

I’ve heard it said that, in Washington, D.C., it’s not uncommon to meet professional people whose first question is “Who do you work for?” (Which politician, which ambassador, which lobbying firm, which government contractor, etc.), the implication being that such people only care about what they can get out of you. That is what I think of when I think of Lance Hornsby.

You see, the thing is: There are people like that, people who only care about you insomuch as you can benefit them somehow, and being in a zombie apocalypse won’t change that.

This brings me back to our theme this week, friends becoming enemies.  Should you find a friend has become an enemy, you need to wonder if that person was ever your friend to begin with. Were they always looking for something from you? Was there something you had that they wanted or could get value from? Were they looking for things that made you or your group vulnerable?

These are things you need to be wary of in the apocalypse because it might be a sign that this person you may see as your friend does not see you the same way, and that is a dangerous person.
