Fear the Walking Dead will soon return to AMC and AMC+ for season 7B. War is brewing, and everyone will need to take a side. That will include the returning character Madison Clark (Kim Dickens), who was assumed dead after her heroic sacrifice at the Dell Diamond in season four.

AMC has released new photos for the back half of season seven, and everyone looks concerned. Well, except for Morgan. Maybe he knows something the others don’t.

Chief Content Officer for The Walking Dead universe, Scott M. Gimple, shared the six new photos with the caption “intense, harrowing, heartbreaking, exciting, epic storytelling.” The word heartbreaking is concerning as that can never be good.

Fear the Walking Dead release date

According to AMC Fear the Walking Dead, season 7B premieres Sunday, April 17 on AMC and AMC+. The first two episodes will be available to stream that same night only on AMC+, with the subsequent episodes will be available one week early on AMC+.

Fear the Walking Dead season 7B synopsis

The second half of season seven of Fear the Walking Dead will focus on the war Alicia declared on Strand. She was just about ready to join his group at the Tower until, once again, his true colors were revealed when she discovered he killed Will.

Madison will return sometime during the remaining episodes of this season. She doesn’t know her son, Chris, is dead, and she doesn’t know that Charlie, who killed Chris, is still part of the group. These things will weigh heavy on her. And, to find that her daughter and one of her friends are at war will also be tough to take in.

The elusive PADRE is still in question as well. Will they ever locate it? Will it contain instructions on how to rebuild after something as catastrophic as a nuclear bomb?

Add to all of this, Alicia believes her infection will eventually cause her to turn. She is fixated on this, and hopefully, it doesn’t distract her from the issues before her. She has become the leader of what remains of Teddy’s cult followers, minus the ones following Arno, who are also a threat, and this war with Strand will most likely turn ugly quickly.

AMC official synopsis:

"In the second half of Season 7, months have passed after the nuclear blast and the only one thriving is Victor Strand (Colman Domingo). Having built a fiefdom, he callously selects who will have a chance at life. The other members of the group have suffered immensely, but out of that, has come a fierce determination to live, even if it means taking Strand’s Tower by force and continuing the search for Padre, a mythical place no one is sure really exists. Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey,) now the reluctant leader to Teddy’s former followers, is plagued by a mysterious illness and the repercussions of her past actions. Morgan (Lennie James,) trying to maintain hope that he will be reunited with his family, knows Alicia is key to their survival. With Alicia declaring war, Strand’s paranoia and personal vendettas grow, and with that, new threats emerge from all sides."
