AMC aired the tenth episode of the sixth season of The Walking Dead titled “The Next World” on Feb. 21, 2016. This episode was written by Angela Kang & Corey Reed and directed by Kari Skogland.

This is an excellent episode as we see The Grimes family together and meet Paul “Jesus” Rovia. There are several funny moments in this episode which isn’t always the case in an episode of The Walking Dead.

The episode begins with a fun family moment at the Grimes house. Michonne is out of toothpaste, Carl is doing PT, and Rick is preparing to go on a supply run. Just your typical morning during an apocalypse.

The Walking Dead season 6

Daryl will be joining Rick on the run and has an awkward encounter with Denise, who tries to explain why she wants an orange “Pop.” Daryl is fine with her request as she has proven to be instrumental in her role as the new doctor.

Eugene, being himself, stops Rick and Daryl as they are leaving Alexandria to tell them they need to locate sorghum because it is a criminally underrated grain. And, comically, they come to a sorghum barn with a truck loaded with supplies.

As they are headed back with the supplies, they stop, and this is when they encounter the masked stranger they will learn is Jesus. This will eventually lead to the hilarious chase scene with Daryl running down Jesus, leading to the truck full of supplies being rolled into the pond.

Jesus is knocked unconscious, so they take him back to Alexandria and lock him up for the night. The next time we see him, he is in Rick and Michonne’s bedroom telling them they need to talk as they stand before him naked, with weapons drawn.

Enid and Carl go to the woods to hang out and come upon a walker that Carl recognizes as Deanna Monroe. He refuses to put her down but won’t tell Enid why, as she wouldn’t understand. Carl believes someone who cared for her should do that task, remembering how he had to do the same for his mother. This is something he shares with Michonne towards the end of the episode.

Michonne sees Spencer in the woods. She follows him and confronts him. He finally shares with her that he was searching for his mother, Deanna, as he thought he saw her walker self leaving Alexandria the night of her death.

It was a great episode and a terrific introduction to Jesus.

A fun piece of trivia from this episode: The comic book Carl reads in the woods is Invincible, a comic book by Robert Kirkman.
