The Walking Dead: what is next for Maggie?
By Renee Hansen
In the most recent episode of The Walking Dead titled “No Other Way,” Maggie (Lauren Cohan) goes rogue to exact her revenge on the Reapers.
Since Maggie’s return, we have seen a very different version of this character. She has become hardened by the events she had to endure. Although the mission to Meridian was presented as a way to get the much-needed food for Alexandria, Maggie was always on the path of revenge for what the Reapers did to the Wardens. Her anger was building as The Reapers killed more of the Wardens.
Elijah is the last survivor of the Wardens who came on this mission. It is apparent that he and Maggie have a very close bond. She chose to take out the Reapers because she promised Elijah they would get revenge for his sister and the others the Reapers killed.
The Walking Dead – Maggie
What will happen with Maggie now that the Reapers are gone, Negan is gone, and Alden is dead? Since her return to the communities, these are three significant focuses in her life.
Leah is still out there, so we can expect a return of this character, and it most likely won’t be good.
Negan is a wild card, and who knows which way he will turn. Will he follow his comic book story and live away from everyone? Or will he meet with a new group?
Alden was a hard blow for Maggie as she ultimately decided to leave him at the church. He told her it was his choice, but he did that to absolve her of the guilt she would feel if and when he died.
But what about the six-month time jump? Why are Maggie and Elijah at Hilltop? Did they escape from the Commonwealth, or did perhaps they never take up Lance on his offer to go to that community. And, why are she and Daryl at odds? By orders of the Commonwealth? Or does Daryl have a bigger beef with her?
Maggie was a badass in this episode, and watching her pull a Negan and take care of business was terrific. Those Reapers deserved what they got and more.
Her storyline going forward will be most interesting as viewers discover what is next.
