WOW! What a great way to start season 11B of The Walking Dead. It was an action-packed episode filled with surprises!

The episode opened with the hwacha reigning down on Maggie, Negan, Elijah, Gabriel, and Daryl mixed in with the horde of walkers. There were many fantastic fight scenes with our survivors and the Reapers, making for an excellent episode. Gabriel was a hero as he took out the holy man and the sniper, which saved them all.

The Reaper war is over because Maggie lost her s*** and got revenge for the people she lost and Elijah’s sister Josephine. This mission to Meridian has seen many lives lost before this episode, and now the death count is even higher with all of the Reapers killed in this episode. Leah was left alive, and everyone knows she will be seen again and will most likely cause some sort of trouble.

Aaron saves the day as he rescues Gracie and Judith from the basement full of water and walkers. His entrance to the basement was amazing! Somehow, he heard Gracie’s emergency whistle and ran to save them but, in doing so, put himself at significant risk. Luckily, Lydia arrived and saved him. It was a great moment when he thanked her, and she said, “You would have done the same for me,” and he replied, “I would.” No doubt making Lydia feel she is really one of them.

The Walking Dead season 11B

At Alexandria, the fire still raged at the windmill, with the storm doing nothing to put the fire out. The Alexandrians divide and conquer as they fight the fire and try to locate a second breach that gives the walkers entrance into the community. After the fire and walkers are taken care of, Maggie and the group return as Jerry and Carol watch them enter Alexandria, and Carol notices how many people are missing.

Luckily, as promised, they arrived with all of the food that Meridian had stored. This was a joyous occasion as many characters were reunited after being apart for so long.

Earlier in the season, Alden was left alone in a church building, and everyone knew what his fate would be. It was sad to see him as a walker and witness Maggie break down at the loss of her friend.

The episode ends as Eugene, Lance Hornsby, and a large number of Commonwealth soldiers arrive at the gates of Alexandria. Lance has a proposition for the residents, he can provide what is needed to repair Alexandria, or they can come with him to the Commonwealth.

There is a bonus scene showing events six months later, and it appears that Maggie and some others stay at Hilltop while Darly becomes a member of the Commonwealth military.

It was an outstanding episode to kick off the next segment of this season. We will learn a lot about the Commonwealth in the upcoming episodes!
