The Walking Dead season 11 episode 10

Now that we’ve arrived at the Commonwealth in The Walking Dead, we’ve seen that some of the worst things of the old world linger on.

If you found yourself in a zombie apocalypse, you might think that many of the problems we deal with now would disappear, swept away in the wave of destruction ushered in by the zombie outbreak and the resulting chaos. While that’s mostly true, you would be wrong if you discover any communities like the Commonwealth.

We learned from this week’s episode of The Walking Dead there could be places in the world as we think of it now that have never changed. The rules we presently live by are hanging on, still dictating how people must act and operate.

Depending on how far into the apocalypse you are when you encounter such places, this can either be perfectly normal, a hold out of civilization as the rest of the world crumbles, or perfectly jarring, a throwback to a world that you haven’t seen in years, and are no longer acclimated to.

For this week’s Survival Rule Of The Week, I will address some of the dark sides of this, what to look out for, and maybe, a few pointers about how to navigate it.

When you encounter pockets of pre-apocalypse civilization, you see things both long dead yet still lingering around: A literal “zombie world” in a world full of zombies.
