The Walking Dead, Survival Rule Of The Week: The Zombie World
By Liam O'Leary
The Walking Dead might end society, but not its ugly parts
Let’s face it: These days, people come up with absolutely idiotic reasons to hate one another. Don’t believe me? Go on Twitter for a few minutes.
You might think that the destruction of civilization as we know it will obliterate this nonsense, and I imagine that, for many, it will. The apocalypse will make many realize just how petty such things were.
For some people, these petty things are sacred, even if they are mostly irrelevant once the zombie outbreak hits — Maybe because they identify themselves by these things, maybe because it’s their coping mechanism for dealing with the apocalypse, maybe they cling to it because it reminds them of the old world, who knows? — and will carry on hating people based on them, maybe even to the point of violence.
There’s always some chance that, by seeing people they think they’re supposed to hate going against the distorted idea they have for what they think such people are supposed to be like, they may change, and let go of their archaic grudges, but, there’s an equally good chance that, once freed from laws, they’ll just turn their hate into action.
If you find yourself against such a person, don’t expect mercy from them; if they hate enough to go this far, they’re too far gone.
And that’s our Walking Dead, Survival Rule Of The Week! Once the zombie apocalypse sets in, much of the old world will die, but…not all of it. You will almost certainly find a few pockets of it still lingering around, and many of them not being a force for good. You need to be prepared for these parts of the “zombie world” because if you aren’t, just like a real zombie, they’ll turn around and bite you. If you want to be ready for the “zombie world,” why not pick up a copy of my book, The Rules: A Guide To Surviving The Zombie Apocalypse! You can also get it at Amazon here, on iTunes here!
